Description: Derya has black hair cut short. It's always messy, and unruly, giving him the appearance of a ruffian. His eyes are ice blue, so much so that you would almost expect them to be cruel, hard. Which is, of course, the exact opposite.

He is tall and slender, but has quite a bit of muscle. His hands are callused, showing many days of hard work. His feet are pretty big.

Personality: Derya is shy, in a sense. He doesn't like to be around people. He doesn't trust easily -- and it takes a very long time for you to start. He doesn't socialize that well with those his own age, but rather gets along better with those older that himself. He hates being around little kids; they bug him. However, sometimes he just likes to be alone, by himself, in absolute quiet. Sometimes he can get a bit edgy, and is nearly always sarcastic -- in good ways or not. He can be optimistic or pessimistic, depending on his mood, but sometimes he can just get plain annoying. For example, when asked 'Is this glass half empty or half full', he could go on and on about it being neither, the proportions not being accurate, you could see it as both ways, et cetera. Usually, though, he just keeps quiet.

He loves animals, reading, and writing. He can be hostile towards strangers, but if you gain his trust, he is a valuable ally -- as loyal as a dog. He can be patient -- to some extent. But beware -- when you get him mad, his temper is that of a firebender's!

History: Derya was born to Aoktop, a very good healer, and Oxpaha, an exelled warrior, in the Southern Water Tribe. When he was 5, his father went off to fight the war in the Earth Kingdoms. He was stationed in Fort Aepebo. Three months later, Aoktop and Oxpaha received word that Aepebo was burned to the ground by Firebenders. No one survived.

A year later, Derya began to realize his waterbending skill. He practiced day and night, after he did his chores. He learned quickly.

Two years after his father's death, when Derya was 7, the Fire Nation attacked the Southern Water Tribe. His mother died; she refused to leave a sick man behind, to die, so she stayed with him and tried to attack the firebenders with clubs, but to no avail. A good friend of the family, Apyr, took the young Derya away, to the Northern Water Tribe.

There, Derya found a Master to help him along with his studies. He knows a lot about waterbending now, and helps the younger benders. He wishes to leave the northern water tribe someday and explore the world.

Clothing: His tunic is ragged and navy blue, with sky blue trims. His pants are baggy and blue.

Atop this, Derya wears a dark blue, hooded cloak. It comes down to his ankles, and is longer than the tips of his fingers.

On his back, he wears a thick, leather bag. In this, he keeps all his supplies. This usually doesn’t wear him down.

For shoes, Derya has leather boots. They are black, and soft -- perfect for running in, but protective enough to keep out water and twigs.

City: Northern Water Tribe, but he wishes to travel someday.
